Future Of Jackson’s Children Now In Doubt

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The death of Michael Jackson leaves his three children facing an uncertain future.

It is reported Jackson’s mother Katherine has offered to take in Michael Joseph Jackson Junior, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II.

Jackson family lawer Brian Oxman said: “Probably Mrs Jackson will take care of them, she loves them dearly.”

Michael Joseph, 12, and his 11-year-old sister Paris Michael were from Jackson’s marriage to nurse Debbie Rowe in 1996.

Early that year, Ms Rowe was artificially inseminated and she was six months pregnant with their son when they married in Australia in November.

Their eldest was born in February 2007.

In an interview with the Daily Mail last year, Ms Rowe said: “Of course it was artificial insemination. Paris was conceived in Paris, that’s how she got her name. Michael wanted to call her Princess, but I thought that was stupid.”

Paris Katherine Jackson was born on April 3, 1998.

“I had so many problems when I was pregnant with Paris,” Ms Rowe said.

“After that, I couldn’t have any more children. Michael was upset about that, he couldn’t understand it. He wanted more babies.”

After the couple divorced in 1999, Jackson took on sole responsibility for their children’s upbringing but Ms Rowe told the Mail she still saw them.

“Michael and I are fine. I see him and the kids all the time. They live in Las Vegas now, just a three-hour drive away.”

Prince Michael was born to a surrogate mother Jackson never met.

In 2002, he caused a public outcry by dangling the baby – referred to as “Blanket” – out of a third-floor hotel balcony in front of the world’s press.

Jackson always denied allegations that his first two children were not biologically his.

“I used a surrogate mother (for Blanket) and my own sperm cells. I had my own sperm cells in my other two children. They are all my children,” he said.

When they appeared in public the children wore veils to disguise their identity.

However, in Las Vegas last year snappers managed to take photographs of three children with Jackson’s entourage, believed to be his.

Ms Rowe told the Mail: “I turned out two pretty good-looking kids. For that I am proud.”

She added: “The veils were my idea, not Michael’s. I had kidnap threats when they were babies. I did not want them to be recognised. I’m not happy they’ve been photographed without the veils.”

The fate of the three is expected to be revealed when Jackson’s will is read.

Michael Jackson Dies at Age 50, FOX NEWS Confirms

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Michael Jackson died Thursday afternoon after reportedly going into cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home, the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times reports.

FOX News confirmed that the legendary singer, 50, was rushed to the hospital Thursday afternoon, but did not confirm reports of his death.

The Los Angeles Times reported the legendary singer, 50, had fallen into a deep coma before his death shortly after 3 p.m. PDT.

Multiple reports claimed that shortly after noon Thursday, Jackson went into cardiac arrest and had to receive CPR in the ambulance. Joe Jackson, his father, told multiple news sources that his son was not doing well.

Paramedics responded to a 911 call at around 12:26 p.m. PDT, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was reportedly not breathing at the time of their arrival.

A Jackson spokesman was unavailable for comment.

His death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music’s premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

Singer Michael Jackson ‘is dead’ – BBC NEWS

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Pop star Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles, aged 50, reports say.

Paramedics were called to the singer’s home around midday local time on Thursday after he stopped breathing and suffered a suspected cardiac arrest.

He was rushed by ambulance to a local medical centre, but his death was announced shortly afterwards.

The star, who had a history of health problems, had been due to begin a series of comeback concerts in the UK on 13 July.

He had a history of health problems and had not completed a concert tour in 12 years.

US media reports said paramedics were called to the singer’s house in Bel Air at midday.

They performed CPR on Jackson and rushed him to the UCLA medical centre.

Crowds have begun to gather outside the facility, whose emergency centre has been roped off by police.

Jackson began his career as a child in family group The Jackson 5.

He then went on to achieve global fame as a solo artist with smash hits such as “Thriller” and “Bad”.

But the singer has been dogged by controversy and money trouble in recent years, becoming a virtual recluse.

He is survived by three children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II.

Pop icon Michael Jackson is dead – LOS ANGELES TIMES

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

[Updated at 3:15 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.]

[Updated at 2:46 p.m.: Jackson is in a coma and his family is arriving at his bedside, a law enforcement source told The Times.

Jackson was rushed to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center this afternoon by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda said paramedics responded to a call at Jackson's home at 12:26 p.m. He was not breathing when they arrived. The paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him to the hospital, Ruda told The Times.

[Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. Jackson had rented the Bel-Air home for $100,000 a month. It was described as a French chateau estate built in 2002 with seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, 12 fireplaces and a theater.

The home is about 2 1/2 miles, about a six-minute drive, from UCLA Medical Center. An earlier version of this post incorrectly described the time to travel between the home and hospital as two minutes.]

The news comes as Jackson, 50, was attempting a comeback after years of tabloid headlines, most notably his trial and acquittal on child molestation charges.

In May, The Times reported that Jackson had rented the Bel-Air residence and was rehearsing for a series of 50 sold-out shows in London’s O2 Arena. Jackson had won the backing of two billionaires to get the so-called “King of Pop” back on stage.

His backers envision the shows at AEG’s O2 as an audition for a career rebirth that could ultimately encompass a three-year world tour, a new album, movies, a Graceland-like museum, musical revues in Las Vegas and Macau, and even a “Thriller” casino. Such a rebound could wipe out Jackson’s massive debt.

Jackson, 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12.00pm local time (19.00pm GMT) and paramedics were unable to revive him, TMZ.com said.

When paramedics arrived at his house he was not breathing, a fire department captain told the LA Times newspaper.

Jackson was given CPR by fire department paramedics as he was taken to UCLA Medical Center where he was treated, the LA Times said.

Steve Hargrave, Sky’s entertainment correspondent, said: “TMZ is a website which goes out of its way to get there first but many of their stories over the years have turned out to be true – particularly with stories from LA.

“You can only imagine the impact of this around the world.”

Jackson’s manager was not available for comment and officials at UCLA Medical Center could also not be reached.

Sky’s US correspondent Greg Milam said: “Clearly he was very seriously ill – we can gather that from what his father and other family members said.

“One member of the family had told the TMZ website that Michael is in “really bad shape” and that the brothers were heading for the hospital.

“His father said he wasn’t sure exactly what was wrong and was waiting to hear back.

“One can only imagine what it could be like for his family in such circumstances.”

Jackson had been about to embark on a comeback, performing 50 concerts at London’s O2 Arena.

The concerts had been due to start on July 13.

He had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the London shows, which sold out within hours of going on sale in March.

Hargrave said: “We can’t underestimate the effect this will have on Michael Jackson fans who have loved his music and career.

“They would have been assuming that in about three weeks time their idol would have been back on the stage perfoming his greatest hits. To suddenly find out this news will be devastating.

Phil Sutcliffe, from Mojo Magazine said: “He had the extraordinary effrontery to call himself the King of Pop, but that’s actually what he was, and for a long, long time.”
